About the Organisation

Thames Water is the UK's largest water and sewerage company, serving 13 million customers across London and the Thames Valley.

To maintain this vital service and deal with the challenges of population growth and climate change, we are embarking on some of the largest, most radical, and important engineering projects in our history: the Tideway Tunnel, the London Ring Main, and the UK's largest enclosed reservoir.

Their Key Challenges

Delivering a 24-hour a day, 365 days a year service to the satisfaction of our customers and regulators such as Ofwat, the Environment Agency and the Drinking Water Inspectorate, is a massive challenge in its own right. This brings plenty of issues of its own - the constant need to adapt our network to accommodate new buildings (200 new connections a day), for example, or to drive up standards of sewage treatment to meet ever-more demanding environmental legislation.

But there are other impacts on us, some man-made, some natural, that are of major significance, and that we must address. Just three of these are leakage, ensuring adequate supplies and the impacts of climate change.
