Sun’s rays fuels London Engineering Project initiative
London South Bank University (LSBU) hosted the 2nd annual Solar Car Rally on Saturday 13 June.
The event, which was organised by the London Engineering Project (LEP), gave 60 pupils, from schools in south and east London, the opportunity to build their own solar cars in teams and then race them. Academics from the Faculty of Engineering, Science and the Built Environment and student ambassadors were on hand to assist them throughout the day. Pupils have been working in schools for a number of months on this project and were supported by mentors from London South Bank University. The long build up to this event meant that students were very excited on Saturday!
Shireen Ali-Khan, Events and Projects Officer for the LEP said: “It was refreshing to see both girls and boys alike getting involved with hand –on engineering activities and really having a great time! The day was a great success and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Even the sun came out to join us”
