STEM Ambassadors

Where possible the LEP aims to include STEM Ambassadors in all our activities and events. The LEP STEM Ambassador programme is part of a national scheme run by STEMNET. STEM Ambassadors are volunteers from a variety of STEM professions. STEM Ambassadors share their knowledge and experience in order to encourage young people to study STEM subjects.

As a STEM Ambassador you will be able to get involved in a wide range of activities:

  • Act as a role model
  • Provide expert advice
  • Judge competitions and challenges
  • Give careers presentations

An LEP STEM Ambassador is only expected to volunteer for a minimum of one day per year.

If you are interested in becoming an LEP STEM Ambassador you will need to fill in the LEP STEM Ambassador application form

When we receive this information we will ask you to:

  • Complete an online registration form
  • Attend a two hour induction session
  • Complete a CRB disclosure form

The STEM Ambassador Induction Session will provide you with an overview of the STEM Ambassador programme, hints and tips for working with schools, ideas for activities, an overview of the current schools system and guidance on where to go for further information.

We hope that at the end of the session you will have the confidence to make your first visit as an ambassador. On receipt of your satisfactory CRB disclosure the LEP and STEMNET will send you information on upcoming events. You can contact either STEMNET or the LEP to sign up for these events.
